Commodity has supported local charity Dreams Come True ever since Jakob and Shaun ran the first MDS in aid of this cause in 2016. We have been able to experience at first hand the positive effect that granting these wishes can have on a childโ€™s life and on that of their loved ones. This has encouraged us to initiate and support many fundraising events with the Dreams team.

Our Current Dream Candidate

MAX
Our current Dreams candidate is 4 year old Max who has a rare chronic bone condition. Max has two older brothers for whom the charity has already fulfilled a dream as they too suffer with this painful, hereditary condition. Max would love to go on a family holiday somewhere hot with a sandy beach.

Despite all the difficulties the family deal with, Dad David makes time to raise funds for Dreams Come True by running the London Marathon!

The journey to date:

Dreams Come True helps children and young people with serious and life-limiting medical conditions. Their highly experienced team work hard to ensure that every child has an unforgettable experience fulfilling their dream, with long lasting memories to share with families, loved ones and friends.

JOE
Joe is three years old and has a rare condition called Coffin-Siris syndrome, which affects several body systems physically, as well as on a developmental level. Joe is non-verbal. Joeโ€™s mum wrote to the charity about his dream to go to CBeebies Land & Splash Landings at Alton Towers:

โ€œJoe adores water. He is happiest when heโ€™s in it. He also loves CBeebies & little train rides. Joe has such limited things he enjoys, this would be amazing to have all in one place. He will be so excited and happyโ€!

JAMES

James is 21 years old and lives in Cambridge. He has been very unwell battling Hodgkins lymphoma. Here is what James wrote to the charity: โ€œMe and my uncles are big fans of Liverpool but weโ€™ve never been able to afford tickets to go see a match, let alone a tour of their football ground. Itโ€™d be nice to enjoy a one-off experience, especially after everything thatโ€™s happened. A break from it all would be nice. It would be amazing to spend the weekend in Liverpool and enjoy a night out with some familyโ€. Jamesโ€™ social worker told the team at Dreams Come True that James has never left the county he lives in so this would be a big adventure for him.

AMBER
Amber is 12 years old and lives in Cheshire. She has a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome which causes developmental problems including learning disabilities and cognitive impairment. Amber has always dreamed of going to Winter Wonderland at Center Parcs to enjoy all the fun activities including fireworks displays and meeting Santa and his reindeer.

LILY-CLARE Lily-Clare, aged 10, has multiple respiratory conditions as well as a permanent collapsed lung & scoliosis. Lily-Clare is a keen horse rider and wrote to our charity partner about her dream.

โ€œMy dream is to ride a race horse, in front of a crowd, around a race track. Not during a race, or me racing in a race. Just by myself on a race horseโ€.

NAOMI For our current challenge, we have made it our aim to fulfil Naomiโ€™s dream, who lives locally to our HQ. She was diagnosed with leukaemia at the end of 2014 and had undergone intensive treatment including a stem cell transplant. This required long periods of hospitalisation which Naomi coped with amazingly well with courage and determination.

โ€œIโ€™ve always dreamed of going to Hawaii, ever since I was little. Mum used to tell me stories about her visit to Hawaii & how spectacular it was. Iโ€™d like to bring my little brother Oscar because he bravely donated his bone marrow to me to save my life. If I go to Hawaii Iโ€™d: Go to the observatory on Mauna Loa & see the stars, swim with dolphins, walk on top of the volcano, visit the beautiful Island of Kauai & even try to learn traditional Hawaiian dancingโ€. Naomi needed ยฃ3,500 to realise this Dream and we are grateful to all those who donated and helped us to achieve that target! Really wonderful effort.
